Proposal to close project

This project is moribund. I propose to mark it as {{historical}} and put a soft redirect to Wikipedia:WikiProject Visual arts, which is a active and covers this subject also. Tyrenius (talk) 18:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Rename proposal for the lists of basic topics

This project's subject has a page in the set of Lists of basic topics.

See the proposal at the Village pump to change the names of all those pages.

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Sculpture

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:30, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:53, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Leaflet for Wikiproject Sculpture at Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Missing articles about sculptors linked from List of papal tombs

This article contains several redlinks to sculptors, some of whom are quite important. If you are interested in creating articles about these sculptors, that list has some seed information, sources, and images, which you may find useful. Savidan 03:02, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

WP: Exhibitions

In light of the increase in GLAM projects internationally, I'd like to start a new WikiProject, WP:Exhibitions to help coordinate activities around major museum and gallery exhibitions. If you are interested in the project, please contact me here or on my talk page. I'm hoping to establish guidelines for creating, editing, and tagging articles on major exhibitions and to begin improving articles in this area of Wikipedia. Dear sculpture experts: Here's an old draft that is about to be deleted. Is this a notable sculptor, and should the article be kept? —Anne Delong (talk) 17:30, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Resolved

I have requested a peer review for the article Gate to the Northwest Passage, about a sculpture in Vancouver, British Columbia. I seek feedback about the article in general, before nominating it for Good article status, and about three specific pieces of content currently being debated. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:24, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Wanted: Wikipedia articles for sculptures, monuments and memorials in London

 Done

Following is a list of sculptures, monuments and memorials without Wikipedia articles. User:Ham and I have put this list together and we believe the links below reflect the most appropriate article titles based on naming conventions. I have been creating many articles for London artworks since my recent visit to the city, but I welcome other editors to please assist with the creation of these articles to help improve the encyclopedia.

All help welcome! ----Another Believer (Talk) 23:49, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

If anyone has time to spare, I could use a little help with this article, which I hope to promote to Good status. I think the sculpture was completed between 1959 and 1968, but some sources give 1977 as the date. Some sources say the sculpture was first installed in 1968, others say it has been on the Transit Mall since 1977. I am confused as to which dates I should use for the sculpture's completion and installation. If someone has the time, interest, and patience to review this article and poke around some of the sources, I'd appreciate another pair of eyes. It is not a long article, and there are not too many sources to scan. The article should be close to meeting GA criteria once this issue is resolved. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:05, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Major missing article

If you've been looking for a "feather in the cap" article to write, a major piece that somehow has escaped Wikipedian attention, look no further than Tinwork. I'm shocked this is still a redlink. If you live in or near New Mexico, you're in an ideal place to work on it, since all the libraries there have numerous volumes on the area's famous tinwork, and generations of tinworker artisans, going back to Spanish Colonial times. It remains one of the primary crafts quasi-industries in northern Mexico and the American Southwest, and tinwork adornment is an integral part if Southwestern style décor, especially in Northern New Mexico, being especially favored in Santa Fe and Taos. There are many extant WP articles mentioning tinwork as an art [1], so the new article would not be an orphan. (However, a few of these hits are industrial mentions, and the topic should be disambiguated from Tinworks, i.e. a tin smelting factory.)  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  08:31, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

The article Topos V has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable artwork

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Revive?

@Carptrash and Randy Kryn: We seem to communicate a lot, or at least off and on. We all have an interest in sculpture, and I know User:Ham II does, too. How do you all feel about reviving this WikiProject? We don't even need to do any heavy lifting, like re-establishing the article assessment system and revamping the project page, if we don't want to, but at least we could all watchlist this page and discuss sculpture-related things when convenient. What say you? ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:10, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

@Missvain, AnonNep, Miyagawa, JMiall, Andrew Davidson, Pigsonthewing, The wub, and Thryduulf: Pinging a fellow sculpture fan and members of WikiProject Public Art's London task force, some of whom I have seen working on sculpture articles and I assume may be interested. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:13, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Good idea, and I'll be a member with no promises of any work whatsoever. I'm kind of a wiki-loner, and if "assigned" tasks come along I'll usually be seen bounding somewhere that-a-way (why I could never even get close to wanting to be an admin). I'll keep track of what happens here though, and page-watch it. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:28, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
👍 Like Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:56, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Whatever! I co-founded WP:Public art...so that is where my focus is at. I don't really plan on focusing on too many projects, when I'm involved in public art and paintings (and yes, public art is sculpture, but this group was dormant when we started the PA project....) Missvain (talk) 04:00, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
I'm not much of a joiner, but I suspect that you'd find me as a member of this in the past and I'd be willing to be one again. As always I'd have my own agenda, which I will gladly share. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 05:30, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Great! If anything, this can just be a space to ask questions, share ongoing projects, etc., instead of always using user talk pages. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:52, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Frankly, this is probably a bad idea. This page gets 0-1 views most days. Better to keep things going to the Visual arts project as before, which is much more widely viewed. Johnbod (talk) 02:16, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
Or post at both. Since it was 'revived' I've checked the page when a new entry or post shows up. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:50, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Happy New Year to the project members. I recently edited Outline of sculpture, and if anyone has a few minutes to spare and feels good about the page, it can be improved (atop some nice work by several good editors who've put together a nice page). The bonus attraction is that it's one of Larry Sanger's original pages, from October 2001, so its legacy is strong. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:12, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Yuck (says an anti-subcategorologist), can't we just do 'Statues in state' and not go way down the rabbit hole (ending with "Statues of standing men in east New Hampshire carrying parcels"). Just wanted to get that out of my system, carry on. Randy Kryn (talk) 16:43, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Another Believer, sorry about "yuck" and the rest, I just wasn't specific enough until later reading the note at the visual arts page that I too meant the "men" and "women" categories. The others are fine. Which gave me an idea I want to run by you. There's all this turmoil now about not using the word 'mankind' and instead use the term 'humankind' (soon enough there'll be trying to stop men from barking at women for all we know), and what I thought of next was we don't categorize other species by male or female. There are no 'Female dogs in art' or 'Statues of male lions' (although that last one might be feasible), and 'Insects in art' hasn't yet broken down into 'Butterflies' and 'Other'. I was going to suggest we name the categories 'Statues of humans in Idaho', etc. except for well-stocked categories where there may be enough entries to comfortably break the collection down into male and female. And "Statues of humans" as an up-line category instead of 'Statues of people' or whatever it's called now. Just to toss it out there. And me being a dick gives me a chance to compliment you - you've made WikiProject Sculpture great again, alive and active again. That's pretty cool. Randy Kryn (talk) 00:27, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
Randy Kryn, I don't have a problem with the men and women categories, and I'm just proposing subcategories for Category:Sculptures of men, Category:Sculptures of women, and Category:Statues in the United States. I don't see a need for further subcategorization, but I do think a complete set of 50 state categories would be helpful, if applicable. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:35, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
You're right, and I'm looking at it more from a personal view that the more categories a reader has to click through the higher the percentage of readers who just go away and don't click on the next one. But you're probably right and it balances encyclopedic knowledge. Someone will come along and work on other species ("Statues of lions in Asia", etc.) at some point. I'd click on that one. (EDIT: and check this one out! Is the creating editor in the WikiProject?) Randy Kryn (talk) 00:53, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
Maybe not though. After seeing that 'Statues of lions with spheres' gobble up quite a few of the Statues of Lions pages, I realize I wouldn't like to see a category I really like divided up into countries or states. Some of the new ones you've created only have one item apiece. This seems to hide the entries. When before we would have a nice list to look at, maybe 180 entries, now to get to see the whole list each "drawer" has to be opened and then shut again. For example, I would like to see all of the paintings of dogs in one long list, although your Titian category works. But if they were to be divided up into countries, and not only countries but then into states or provinces, as these statues are being divided up, some of the curiosity-interest energy of the category would likely seem depleted. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:30, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
For example, on just a quick grab in a pond with a thousand fish, Category:Outdoor sculptures in Gresham, Oregon? Randy Kryn (talk) 03:36, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

A new newsletter directory is out!

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:39, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Can anyone confirm whether the person on the left in this photo is the sculptor Leopold Scholz? His wife Belle Kinney Scholz is on the right, and the fair-use photo was originally used in her article. I've replaced it there as there's a better image of her on Commons, but would like to put it on her husband's article without just assuming it's of him. The original source of the image hasn't helped. Ham II (talk) 08:52, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

I would say that the guy is architect Russell E Hart, based on a picture that is not copyright free, so I can't post it here, but that I will post elsewhere and send you a link. Carptrash (talk) 15:45, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Well, the result of the discussion is surprising. Thoughts on how we can move forward with making sculpture articles more consistent so we're not just batches of similar articles via move requests? I thought completing a series of discussions showing the same result would demonstrate a strong preferences and encourage consistency, but the discussion closer suggests an RfC may be better. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:34, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

@Ham II: Sorry for the ping, but curious if you have an opinion here. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:47, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Sorry to be slow to take this up. The closer may not have been aware that an RfC on this subject had been going on until very recently at WT:VAMOS. The discussion there has died down, but perhaps we should pick it up again by inviting Johnbod to do a third draft of the proposed addition to VAMOS? Ham II (talk) 19:57, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes, indeed - or anyone else who wants to try. It'll have to be after the weekend. Johnbod (talk) 00:04, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Johnbod. Ham II (talk) 05:10, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good. @Steven Crossin: Bringing this to your attention as well. You did nothing wrong, but the discussion was closed with a different result than previous discussions for similar move requests for similar articles, as seen above. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:08, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
That discussion is still going on, is still all over the place in terms of options, and the option to keep the name of a statue such as Jean Drapeau (sculpture) seems fine. It was a good close. Please don't mislead the closer or other editors that there is any kind of consensus (or that it's an RfC, it's a very long multi-sectioned talk page discussion). This new close just shows that the question is open and, if you're calling the close into question, maybe those other closings should be called into question instead. Each individual close adds to the discussion. Randy Kryn (talk) 20:46, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
It was an RfC, from the beginning of the discussion in July until 20 August. Ham II (talk) 05:10, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Randy Kryn, I'm definitely not calling the close into question and recognize this entire discussion is ongoing. All I'm noting is how the discussion went in a different direction and was curious how editors wish to move forward. All good! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:32, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Then my apologies. I got defensive when I misread the wrong intention into the word "...but". Coming off a batch of portal deletion discussions, something I don't think I ever got into before and they're really something (probably hundreds of portals have met their maker, but I tried to save a few of them with mixed results), so I apparently carried a defensive posture over to this discussion. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:38, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Disambiguation needed for Peter Pan statue?

See Talk:Peter Pan statue. Also, some of the statues of Peter Pan mentioned in the article might be notable enough for their own entries. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:44, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Titles for statue articles

There have been many move discussions lately re: titles of statue articles. I believe there has been a discussion somewhere re: title consistency and the differences between UK and US subjects (statue of XXX vs. subject depicted as title). Does anyone remember where this took place? ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:16, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, no. You might try the Visual arts project. As I've said, WP:VAMOS doesn't really cover this, especially in situations where there are multiple staues of the same person. Perhaps an RFC could hammer out some broad preference for how to deal with these? Johnbod (talk) 01:44, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Johnbod, Thanks, User:Ham II has offered to start an RfC, so we'll be revisiting the topic in the near future. In the meantime, I'm using this as a space for identifying articles possibly needing renaming:

Pings

This WikiProject has not been the most active, and there are only a few people listed as participants. However, I've noticed there have been some great sculpture-related discussions lately across talk pages and other spaces, including by some very active and productive editors. I'm hoping some folks might be interested in joining this project so we can continue collaborating and centralizing relevant discussions.

@Ham II, Johnbod, Randy Kryn, and SelfieCity: Any interest in watchlisting/joining? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:16, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

I've joined! I do think it would be best if the project were a working group/task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject Visual arts, then those two templates on talk pages could be collapsed into one. Ham II (talk) 16:47, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Ham II, I'm not opposed to merging, but also not bothered by the standalone WikiProject. I think this group has tons of potential and I'd love to see more activity and participants. Then a larger group of editors can determine the best ways to organize and collaborate. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:51, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Have had this page on my watchlist for a long time, and have similarly puttered around both painting and sculpture articles. I consider statues and paintings as the same type of artwork, so have considered what seem to be two separate wikiprojects as the same wikientity. I'm not much of an official joiner on Wikipedia, but might as well sign up on a few of the wikiproject areas I tend to drift towards. Randy Kryn (talk) 17:01, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Best not to try & resussitate it imo. We used to have far too many projects, spread much too thin. Just do everything at VA. Johnbod (talk) 22:23, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Johnbod, Below I've asked if WikiProject Sculpture should be converted into a task force of WikiProject Visual arts. I've posed the same question at WikiProject Public Art, and wonder if Template:WikiProject Public Art, Template:WikiProject Sculpture, and Template:WikiProject Visual arts should be merged or not. Obviously these need much wider discussion. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:50, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Project page

I don't love our main project page (Wikipedia:WikiProject Sculpture). I've added a section for Quality content. What other improvements can we make? What content is outdated or unnecessary? All feedback and ideas are welcome. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:17, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Active?

This project is currently marked as "semi-active". Should we be "active"? I won't change the status unless a few editors agree. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:05, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Well Ham and I are pretty active, right above. And there has been some spirited discussion at the 'How to name statue articles" elsewhere, so yes, active. Carptrash (talk) 15:57, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Carptrash, Yep! There are certainly some active editors, but I want to make sure there are enough who actually care enough to consider this project active and assist w/ maintenance. One down, any others? :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:03, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good to me! Ham II (talk) 16:56, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Ham II, Great! Well, that makes just 3 of us for now, but that's enough for me to make the update. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:57, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Yes, but all of us, and many others, watch the VA project talk, so why not use that? Johnbod (talk) 17:21, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Charting # of articles associated with this project?

I've been systematically marking hundreds, if not thousands of articles in Category:Sculpture with Template:WikiProject Sculpture. Does anyone know if there's a way to chart the number of articles associated with the project over time? I know where to find the current # of tagged articles, but I'm more interested in a growth chart. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:55, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

I don't think the old one are saved, but you should be able to freeze & preserve them somewhere, like a sub-page. Johnbod (talk) 17:21, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Project tagging

I notice Another Believer has started doing tagging for this project. At present the main page shows some 5,000 articles are tagged, but most random sculpture articles one sees are not so tagged. Perhaps we actually have say 25-30,000 sculpture articles. Before spending a truly enormous amount of time adding the extra tags, I suggest working out whether anyone actually intends to work on articles based on the project ratings. That is really the only point in having them, other than willy-waving. For most projects I think this rarely happens nowadays. In particular the "low importance" articles are I think rarely worked on. Johnbod (talk) 16:57, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Johnbod, Funny, I just posted about this above. I plan to continue tagging articles regardless of whether or not people plan to focus on assessment. For the record, I am also tagging articles w/ WikiProject Public Art and WikiProject Visual arts templates as well. I don't see any harm in doing so. Whether or not these templates are merged is to be determined, but at least we'll know which talk page need updating if/when the time comes. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:00, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Johnbod Another reason I'm tagging: I am finding Featured articles, Featured lists, and Good articles about sculpture not associated with this project. That most definitely needs to change, and I'm updating Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sculpture#Quality_content when possible. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:05, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
It's not a case of "what harm", but of "what use"! The most important thing is to ensure they have VA tags, as we know that project is functional. WikiProject Public Art never spread much beyond the US, indeed Indiana, & had certain sect-like tendencies. You are virtually the only poster to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Public_Art in the last 12 months, & the archives are pretty slim. I think that should be moved - that might save you doing a few '000 tags, if you are determined to do it. Johnbod (talk) 17:21, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Johnbod, I get you want everything merged into VA, and I'm not entirely opposed. But as long as I'm reviewing talk pages for WP VA assessment, I may as well add the Public Art and/or Sculpture templates as well. I don't see this as time wasted. Merge discussions for Public Art and Sculpture projects should take place here and here, respectively. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:29, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Public art in Boston

Hello, fellow sculpture lovers. Ahead of the upcoming WikiConference North America, which will be held in Boston in November, I'm creating a project page listing public artworks in the city at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sculpture/Boston.

Surprisingly, there were only 6 Wikipedia articles about public art in Boston, before this month. So far I've created Boston Massacre Monument, Equestrian statue of Joseph Hooker, Statue of Charles Sumner (Boston), Statue of Charles Sumner (Cambridge, Massachusetts), and Statue of Wendell Phillips, as well as List of public art in Boston and Template:Public art in Boston. I'll be continuing work on Boston's public art in the next couple months and invite any project members to help out! Could be a fun little collaboration. :)

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:51, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
