We need the sandbox to have VE[edit]

The sandbox needs to accurately represent article space for it to fulfill its raison d'être. How long until this is online? Is it worth creating an article-space sandbox? As a stopgap, I updated the help page to link to a sandbox in my user space, which seems to work for VE. VQuakr (talk) 05:36, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We're not going to have the VE in the Wikipedia space like that for quite some time, I think :(. I'm trying to think of what the best way forward would be. Article-space sandboxes are workable, but I worry we'd ire the new page patrollers :). Any other ideas? Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 08:14, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Besides a single sandbox in user space or in article space, the only other thing I can think of is a "smart" link that creates a user sandbox in the individual's user space when they click a "sandbox" link. Seems a little overcomplicated though. VQuakr (talk) 03:31, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I came across your sandbox while anti-vandal patrolling. I think there is a magic word to do what you would like. I just can't think of it off the top of my head. Shouldn't this process be halted for now?[edit]

My understanding is that VE is currently opt-in on the English Wikipedia and will remain so for the foreseeable future; that means that help files should default to wikimarkup and avoid referencing the Visual Editor, because that reflects what new users are going to see. --Aquillion (talk) 22:50, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
