Update template dates?[edit]

I see some people (mostly IPs) update maintenance template(like npv dispute, unreferenced) dates to current month. I think it is wrong as the dates are to measure how long the problem has been there. Am I correct? ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 07:02, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ExclusiveEditor: Yes. Please feel free to revert such edits (bit do not edit war); and ask them to desist on their talk pages. You may report persistent offenders to WP:ANI.
Note that this does not apply to templates like {{Use British English}}, {{Use American English}}, {{Use dmy dates}}, {{Use mdy dates}}, etc. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:32, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I accidently removed the photo in the info box, please return if you are able. Thank you in advance 144.130.154.129 (talk) 08:39, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How can I add this fetaure? I have tried searching FAQs but have not found an answer. I have an image ready to go. Thank you CarolynCo (talk) 09:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CarolynCo: That's an infobox. I see you have now added one. Thank you for your contributions! Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:28, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rishishwar Society information[edit]

Not a request for help

Abhishek indore Dixit (talk) 09:43, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Google translation:

No one has any proof of the origin of Rishiswar Brahmins. Some people have considered Rishiswar Brahmins as Dravidian Brahmins on the basis of the genealogy given by the Patias. Dravidian Brahmins are Shiva worshippers and wear Tripund. They are different from Adi Gaud Brahmins. They have nothing to do with Vashishtha and other Gaud Brahmins. Rishiswar Brahmins mainly reside in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Ujjain, Indore, Jamgarh, Chhindwara, Sagar, Vidisha, Jhabua, Etawah, Unnao, Safipur, Kanpur.

Can i add Social Media platform names etymology in Wikipedia page- List of company name etymologies?[edit]

That Wikipedia page is about company name etymology, is it ok to add Social platform name etymologies in this page because YouTube, WhatsApp, Line work as companies? Octo2k (talk) 13:45, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would think so - provided you cite reliable sources for the etymology. Beware of random people making things up, or speculating about things nobody knows. (Yes, I know there's plenty of entries there without citations. There shouldn't be. I've tagged it as needing more). ColinFine (talk) 14:52, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, now I've looked at it, I cannot understand why that article should exist, and I have opened a discussion on the artcile's talk page. ColinFine (talk) 15:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that article should exist because etymology is an important thing to know about a particular thing, in that Wikipedia page people can find companies name etymology just by using find in page feature through web browser. Octo2k (talk) 15:39, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Octo2k, there's a difference between importance and notability - you may want to read this page, specifically the bits down here. 57.140.16.48 (talk) 15:54, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Octo2k, the trouble is that that list is full of surmise and guess. It might be right in many cases, but without a citation to check, it is worthless - and I think it's likely that in many cases no authoritative statement will be found.
In cases where it is interesting - and documented - it should be in the article about the company: there is no value in collecting this list: see WP:INDISCRIMINATE.
I have therefore nominated it for deletion, at WP:Articles for deletion/List of company name etymologies. This opens a discussion which anybody may contribute to, and it is possible that people will come up with reasons to keep it according to Wikipedia's policies. You are as welcome as anybody else to contribute to that discussion - but I suggest you read WP:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions, especially USEFUL, first. ColinFine (talk) 16:39, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked in some etymologies there are citation, but in some there no citations have used. Octo2k (talk) 17:01, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on St. George, Louisiana[edit]

Reference help requested. How do i fix it?

Thanks, Endisnear (talk) 18:49, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Endisnear. When you use a citation template with a "title" field, then you must provide the title or the tempate generates an error message. Just add the title. Cullen328 (talk) 20:35, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thank you. i just mimmicked another one and fixed it! Endisnear (talk) 22:39, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How can user not form the same country whitewash TV pages from different country[edit]

Non British users have claimed "And There's More" as non notable series and just got rid, didnt EVEN Try to move the content just thought who care, It become Clear far too often users are lazy and just white wash stuff. I dread to think what other pages get this treatment and what details coudl be lost.

Crazyseiko (talk) 22:08, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really know why you'd think that this is a "country whitewash". The WP:BURDEN is on article creators to sufficiently show that something meets our notability guidelines. I can't really comment on this, I'm not familiar with the show, but that pre-redirect was completely unsourced. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 22:59, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Crazyseiko, an editor does not need to be British to instantly see that the article was entirely unreferenced and therefore completely inappropriate for this encyclopedia without dramatic improvement. Wikipedia is the encyclopedia that anyone can edit, as long as their edits comply with policies and guidelines. That article did not comply. We have no policy and no guideline that says only British people can edit British topics or only Vietnamese people can edit Vietnamese topics or only Egyptian people can edit Egyptian topics. I happen to be American, and if you happen to make any policy compliant edits to any article about an American topic, I will be very happy to see it. Cullen328 (talk) 05:42, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And there's no need to copy the entire non-notable redirected article to the talk page of the target [1] Meters (talk) 06:01, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CrazyseikoWe mention this show in the article. If you feel there is additional content from that redirected article that should be included then source it and add it. Meters (talk) 06:09, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
