Bond characters

Whats the deal with the overly complicated template?? The way its marked now makes it look as if only some of them are films and some of them are novels. It is a navigation template intended for quick navigation not to assert that novels and films are of equal importance. I just cannot see the thinking behind marking a one of the lists by novel when actually there cover both film and novel characters. Your version of the tmeplate is completely redundant. E.g henchmen in diamonds ar eforver is marked as henchman in a novel so you click that page expecting to see discussion of the novel and what to you see??? A list of henchmen and their images form the films. Look I agree that the films are given too much elevation above the novels but the way you;ve adapted this template doesn't make sense. Why not just a list of bond charcters instead of adding all the fussy novel/film boundaries which aren't right anyway? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I would strongly suggest restoring it as beofre but changing the wording to henchmen by novel and film. This way it displays the truth and doesn't imply that films are "above" the novels ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Ah yes I wasn't thinking of that I see what you mean about that. INdeed it would be better to start with casino royale rather than dr.no as this is what originally came first in terms of character creation. My feeling would be list the novels in order of release first and then the remaining films on the end. It can't remain as it is as it is confusing for the reader ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

new rugby league infobox

I am a little confused with a couple of the questions. I mostly read, rather than actively contribute, and I am questioning the meaning of one or two of the questions, specifically those that deal with the first-grade element. Being of Welsh stock my rugby league interests are the likes of Jonathan Davies, John Devereux, Iestyn Harris, Keiron Cunningham, Lee Briers and the like, all of whom have played first grade. Once again being of Welsh stock, my defacto side would be the Celtic Crusaders, and I am unsure whether they would be considered first-grade. It also brings into question the differences between the British and Australian systems which have had promotion and relegation in one hemisphere and rival systems in the other, not even mentioning the New Zealand situation, which I'm afraid I don't know too much about. Basically just looking for clarification on whether they would be cut from the infobox under those current questions. I may go back and revisit the answers I put down upon your response. Many thanks. Cover images of novels

Dr. No, From Russia, Goldfinger and OHMSS all use multiple novel covers which seem to be nothing more than decorations. I removed them but the uploader reverted. Do we need these? I notifyed the project. Ultra! 15:01, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I undid your edits on the Adelaide Rams page. They were causing the info box to not display. I couldn't figure out how to fix it with out taking out your edits. You may wish to re-apply your edits, make sure you check the info box works before saving. Ozdaren (talk) 12:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind going to Portal:James Bond. I'd really appreciate any criticisms or support that you could provide for this Featured portal candidate. Thanks. Ultra! 00:01, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

SpecialWindler, do you still have the e-mail that you quote for the permission on the image? I was wondering if you could forward it to the m:OTRS folks so that a ticket number can be placed on the image, that way it can be copied to Commons for use on other projects. Thanks! Kelly hi! 06:53, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean?  The Windler talk  07:12, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry - by any chance do you still have the e-mail for the image? If so, could you please forward it to "permissions AT wikimedia.org" so they can file it? Kelly hi! 07:16, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
These messages were done over FlickrMail (an in built mail system of Flickr.). The only other resolution I have is if I can forward it to another Flickr account. But yes, I still have the messages.  The Windler talk  08:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, you can't forward them. Sorry, but I'm not sure how I can help then.  The Windler talk  08:09, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, I have had the same problem with messages on MySpace. For the future, in the "Your account" configuration page on Flickr, you will see an "E-mail" tab, which contains a "Forwarding Flickr e-mails" section. If you select this, Flickr mails will automatically be forwarded to your e-mail account. For this image, could you copy/paste the text from Flickr into an e-mail and forward to permissions? I am sorry for the hassle. Kelly hi! 13:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Ah cool, thanks for that! I will fix that up shortly. Ssiww (talk) 10:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Jerseys

To help with perfecting the jersey images I'll have a sniff around for images/vidoes on the net. To start with, video shows the coloured stripes on the sides of shorts for a few teams as of 1990. I'll add more as I find it.--Jeff79 (talk) 05:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Just as a tid-bit, if the stripe is on the very ends of the short (like those of Balmain, in that video), I don't really include them because they arn't visisble from the front. Though you might argue that some of the jerseys that do have the stripes on mine, might be similar to the Balmain one.  The Windler talk  07:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I mention it because you do have the stripes for some teams' shorts. Might as well put them all there. Also this video] shows that the 'V' on the Wests jersey at that time went no further down than that of the bulldogs' jersey.--Jeff79 (talk) 08:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

This video shows that the St George shorts at the time had red trim at the bottom rather than a bar along the sides.--Jeff79 (talk) 08:58, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Just recently I noticed in the 2008 NRL season results article the small jersey icons next to the heritage round matches and thought it looked really good. I'm interested in the possiblity of including current jersey images probably larger than that, but smaller than on the season articles, for inclusion in the club infoboxes, much like National Football League teams have. What do you think?--Jeff79 (talk) 10:58, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm not saying we should do anything differnetly on the NRL results page (except removing non-NRL games, but that's a whole different kettle of fish). And of course I only meant the current jersey. The rest belong in the history sections. One possibility might be to put the uniform up next to the logo, much like National Football League teams have the helmet next to the logo. Or somewhere else. We could tweak it.--Jeff79 (talk) 13:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

OK - I'm making a to do list below, add anything there on , and I will strike it out when I've finished.

To do

  • Wests jersey 1959 and 1977, correct dimensions of "V".
  • Sharks 1997, correct grey stipe (V, not a hoop).
  • Sharks 1996, black shorts not sky blue.
  • Bulldogs 2001, correct dimensions.

2008 Away jerseys

  • Brisbane Broncos (white and navy blue, not white and maroon) Look at the Darius Boyd picture. Perhaps you're a bit colourblind. Ask friends and family. It's navy blue and white. Also white trim on the short-legs.
  • Canterury Bulldogs
  • Canberra Raiders
  • Cronulla Sharks
  • Gold Coast Titans
  • Manly Sea Eagles
  • Melbourne Storm
  • Newcastle Knights
  • New Zealand Warriors
  • North Queensland Cowboys
  • Parramatta Eels
  • Penrith Panthers
  • St. George Illawarra
  • South Sydney Rabbitohs
  • Sydney Roosters
  • Wests Tigers

Hey mate I'm sorry if I sound rude but can you please do the Fiji and Tonga league icons!!! It's for the World Cup you see! You may be interested to know that I have also done icons for the Elite One Championship teams, you can see them here Elite One Championship V and may add them to Template:Leagueicon if you want. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!

Jerseys

You've done some great work by creating all those jerseys mate. Congrats. I am just wondering if you're still making any more, in particular on for the WA Reds homepage here who are playing in the Jim Beam Cup. If you need any pics just msg me and I'll be able to find you some. Bongomanrae (talk) 11:37, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Raiders jersey

on the current raiders jerseys home and away you have light green instead of yellow here is a link if you want, it is the same on the 2000-2002 jersey, or maybe i'm colour blind --sss333 (talk) 04:18, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Just wondering, given the extensive an ongoing discussion at WT:RL, whether the BOTREQ listing for this task is still needed, and whether the conversions required are all still valid. I have been playing around with some of the algorithms required, but it is turning out to be one of the tasks programmers hate: not difficult in any way, but extremely fiddly and complicated. Reading the discussion at WT:RL, I'm a little concerned that I might be playing with a task that is either no longer required, or has changed significantly since it was last specified. Is this the case? Happymelon 12:25, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

I am almost ready to file a BRFA for this task, however I have found it inordinately difficult to code the modifications to the parameters |dateofbirth=, |dateofdeath=, |pcupdate= and |repupdate=. I'm also not entirely sure why those conversions are necessary, especially when most of the examples I've looked at have used {{birth date and age}}, which already ensures nice formatting. Are these conversions critical?
Before proceeding you need to make modifications to the template such that it displays correctly with both the new and the old syntax, as modifying 4,000 articles is not going to be an instantaneous process. This may require a parameter like |new=yes or checking for the existence of a compulsory new parameter (|year1start=, maybe?). Please let me know once you've made the necessary changes to the template. Happymelon 16:29, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Robin movie in 2012 a spin off of the Chris Nolan Batman films

SpecialWindler where did you hear that Warner Bros will be doing a Robin movie in 2012 and that it will be a spin off of the Batman Chris Nolan movies? I can't find the news on any site. But I'm excited about the possibility.

Important vote at wiki-project rugby league

Many people have been working hard on getting a new infobox up and running and we would like to have your thoughts on the subject here.  CorleoneSerpicoMontana  07:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Source

Hi Joel - is it possible to make the 'source' section of the infobox optional? I often use three or four sources for the one infobox, including books rather than online references. How should it be used? Like this [3] if there are several or named, like this NRL Stats? With books I'd normally just add them to the article footer or should they be credited in the infobox as well? Florrieleave a note 10:49, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry, M has just made it optional! Florrieleave a note 11:02, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Templates

Hi Joel - I found the {{rlp| }} template that you made in a couple of your edits - works great! I haven't tried it in the article text but would it be okay to use it there as well? Is there any way you could devise a template similar to {{StateofOrigin player| }} for the Rugby League Project, NRL Stats and Super League Stats? Florrieleave a note 14:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

ETA - I found a code in an edit (I think by Ianblair23) to stop a line from breaking. It's {{nobreak[[Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles]]}}. Handy to have. Florrieleave a note 14:23, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

"Replace this Image"

I don't particularly mind having it in infoboxes to be honest. But if you want the workload to be easier for you, how about modifying the template structure so that it appears as default in the event of no other image available? That way we'll be able to turn it on and off if we ever feel we don't like it? MDM (talk) 02:05, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Blanking of Alex Benson

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Alex Benson. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. --Allen3 talk 14:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Junior reps in infobox

(cross-posted to Joel and M) What's the go with the Australian Schoolboys in the infoboxes? I thought we had agreed to not have junior and/or lower level rep sides in the infobox? Or has the Project changed it's stance? I'm a touch annoyed with all this to-ing and fro-ing edit/revert business over stuff I thought had been decided. Please let me know if it is definitely in or out. Cheers, Florrieleave a note 02:25, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of James Bond allies in Die Another Day

I have nominated List of James Bond allies in Die Another Day, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of James Bond allies in Die Another Day (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Re: Names for clubs

See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Rugby_league/Australian_teams. A few of us were discussing this a few weeks ago at the project, but the conversation seems to have been archived. What you see here is an incomplete list - it's a struggle to find good sources to clarify when Sydney teams adopted a mascot. We decided that when this list is complete, we'll make it part of our MOS for season pages as well. MDM (talk) 12:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Removal of all images of Bond characters

I thought you might be interested to know about the removal of ALL of the images in List of James Bond henchmen in Die Another Day. There has been an argument that "there is no need to have images in the main film articles as we have the character images on the respective lists". If this is the case and given that the deleter of the images on die another intends to do the full whack pretty soon we will be left with no images whatsover of the James Bond film franchise. Is this what you want? The Bald One White cat 19:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
