There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles

  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Debt deflation.[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your participation. I encourage you to continue to contribute.

Some of the material that you added to Causes of the Great Depression is very informative; however, it is outside the scope of the article (See Wikipedia:Relevance of content. The scope of Causes of the Great Depression is purely historical, and does not include applying the lessons of the depression to our present situation (even though it is always important that we apply the lessons of history to the present). I am merely saying some of the material you added is within the scope of a different Wikipedia article. I would recommend that you create a new section to the article 2007-2012 global economic crisis and move some of your material in Causes of the Great Depression to 2007-2012 global economic crisis. Or you could create a new section to the article Debt deflation.

If you believe that we should expand the scope of Causes of the Great Depression, then you will need to make that proposal on the talk page of that article. If we do, we would need to also apply other theories to the present economic crisis (see WP:DUE). That, in turn, may necessitate spinning off a new article.

I try to help new contributors, so let me know if you need any help or have any questions. (I will have more time in January). Again, thank you for your participation.Dulcimer music 04:50, 6 December 2012 (UTC)JDefauw — Preceding unsigned comment added by JDefauw (talkcontribs)

Thank you for the assistance. Right now I am trying to figure out how to delete debt-reset theory - or if that is my responsibility - now that I think it might violate Wiki "notability" criteria. Any assistance in that regard would be great - SDee 2012

It appears there is no longer a Wikipedia article on Debt reset theory. If I am wrong, could you provide me a link to the article that you believe should be deleted.
I have provided some helpful tips below for posting comments on a talk page (either the talk page of an article or a user talk page).
When you reply to comments on a talk page, type two colons at the beginning of each paragraph that you write. That will automatically indent the entire paragraphs. To indent your paragraphs even more, you can type 4 or 6 colons.
When you provide a link to a Wikipedia article (either on a talk page or in an article), you type two square brackets before and after the name of the article. Example: Catholicism in the United States.
I notice you added "See also" links to a couple of articles. When you add a "See also" link, you will use braces instead of square brackets. You type two braces, and then "Also", and then |, and then the name of the article, and then two braces. Example: If you have not done so already, I recommend you go to Wikipedia: Tutorial/Editing, which will guide you through the basics of editing Wikipedia. It is also a good idea for editors to provide very brief edit summaries for most of their edits so that other contributors understand exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it.
Please let me know if the problem you stated above has not been resolved. I plan to be back on Wikipedia on Monday. Happy editing.Dulcimer music 05:27, 9 December 2012 (UTC)JDefauw.

Debt Article[edit]

SDee 2012, some of what you were doing looked moderately constructive, but blanking sections of the page and eventually the entire page without explanation did not look constructive, therefore I reverted it. If you need to blank something, explain it in your edit summary or on the talk page. Let me know at my talk page should you have any questions. Thanks. Hi - I am worried that the material doesn't match noteworthy criteria. I am a new wiki editor. I put it on a blog and then tried to delete it because I didn't want to violate wiki standards or seem disingenuous. - SDee 2012
