2013 Alberta floods[edit]

Hi, first off, thank you for your contributions! However, I do have a concern with locating some of your images where you are. In particular, this addition. It is a nice image, but given there are already three others in close proximity, the addition of this fourth image ends up squishing the text, and that is not a good thing. While it is good to visibly demonstrate the flooding, we should not do so at the expense of the article itself. Ultimately, not every image can be placed on the article, and of those that do, not every one can be placed in the body. It is a fine image, but probably better off remaining in the gallery. Thanks Resolute, as a new wikipedia contributor with limited formatting abilities and poor technical know-how, your insight is appreciated. I removed the redundant image in the gallery. If you believe that changes should be mode to algin this article with wikipedia's standards, feel free to enact them, though I feel that if one of the images should be removed from the "calgary" section of the article to reduce crowding , it should be the one of soldiers, because it is less relevant/demonstrative of the floods (of coarse im biased towards pictures that i've taken). It's no problem. I was considering the military image as well. I tend to focus on page curation as much as I do adding information, so I tend to catch things like that. And it will only become more pressed for images as I've asked one of our resident cartographers to create a map showing the rivers and affected communities. Hopefully we can get a picture of a non-Calgary location at some point, and there will probably be an image or two of cleanup/post flood damage. It adds up. I'll move the soldier image for now, but I suspect images will bounce around until the disaster passes and the article settles. Cheers! Reso lute 20:56, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"resident cartographers" Wow. I didn't realize that the wikipedia community, even on a local level, had so many resources and contributors to draw on. The efficiency of the whole open user model thing continues to impress (this probably reveals how out of touch I am)
