It is intended for basic information about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, as well as disclosures of conflicts of interest and paid editing. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:

an encyclopedia article (and should not be styled to look like one)

a CV, resumé or lengthy autobiography

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because I'm writing about my success in the music industry, and I list what music I've created and who I collaborated with. Wikipedia is not a place for people to tell the world about themselves or promote themselves, see the autobiography policy. Your user page is not for promoting your music, see WP:USERPAGE. You should use social media to promote your music; you do not meet the definition of a notable musician. @Qyopy Wikipedia has millions of articles and is staffed by volunteers. You are probably right some existing articles are promotional because they have slipped through the cracks.
