License tagging for Image:MeonValley.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MeonValley.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Your cleansing tour[edit]

Normally one would discuss instead such a furious eradicating action as you did with Rhodesian topics. It’s obvious that you based your impression on the most easily accessible links, not the ton of scientific literature. I assume I’m way older than you and am not interested in a continuation of the bush wars on Wikipedia. But are your a historian? Do you base your view on what’s fact or only on the most effortless accessible links/sources.

Is is encyclopedic to ignore the relevant sources because they are not clickable within a second? I know this way of “fact checking” from my students all too well. It’s not good in any way.

About the Twitter thing I learned through you, thanks for that. But that site was obviously established not recently as I could see in the profile headline there.

I truly understand your well-meant motives, but I kindly ask you to not just snuff away facts. As I said, I will not start a fight here. But it would be nice, appropriate and helpful if you would accept the changes, stop the deletion process (which is falsely based on a quick check of some links) and we can discuss the situation of Zimbabwe and the Rhodesian diaspora is a civilized manner.

July 2021[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Hi PaddyMatthews, "vandalism" on Wikipedia is defined as intentional damage to the encyclopedia. I have to thank you – without people stumbling upon such pages, the list at WP:List of hoaxes would probably be much longer. It also takes some courage to (correctly) assert that something is a hoax.
