Edit Summary Request

I have noted that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! -- Kukini 17:04, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

OK, I'll do that from now on.Diniz 17:05, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Edits to F1 results tables

  • I'm not sure about leaving out the reference to 'pole positions in bold' from articles on drivers who scored no poles. Unless a 'former F1 driver' infobox is added which shows "Poles - 0" then there is no obvious pointer then to the fact that that driver scored no poles.
I see. I'll keep that part in future. My only concern is that if people see it for drivers who didn't win any poles, then they might think that there's a mistake somewhere--Diniz 16:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, you're not wrong really - there are one or two anomalies in these tables which we haven't got around to addressing yet. We'll get there in the end! I guess the most important thing at the moment is to make sure all the articles have at least some kind of results table on them. Bretonbanquet 17:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Also "Inj" in the template is not capitalised, for the same reason as "Ret" is not capitalised. It's better to stick to the template, unless a discussion on the Wiki Project F1 decides otherwise. Bretonbanquet 16:52, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
The reason I did that is that I have seen 'Inj' capitalised in other results tables (which I didn't make). There are some small variations between various tables, so I'll try to keep these to a minimum.--Diniz 16:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
I've just checked the key, and 'INJ' is capitalised.--Diniz 16:59, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
I spoke too soon; there are two keys! I was looking at the old one. Very well then, 'Inj' shall remain uncapitalised from now on.--Diniz 17:03, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that's a bit of a problem! There are two keys... I started to change the original key and someone else didn't like it, and he suggested two keys. The original one is for the season tables, and the second one ( the new one) is for the driver articles. There are a few differences but they're generally the same. I only bother myself with the driver articles, so I only really use the second key - I suspect that any articles with INJ in capitals are articles I haven't got around to changing yet :o) I'm just trying to standardise things - quite a big job! Bretonbanquet 17:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, especially when a new user comes along and starts editing...hehe--Diniz 17:23, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Ha ha - well you're very welcome - it'll take me months otherwise! Bretonbanquet 17:25, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I've been keeping a track of your edits, really good stuff - and I like reading them because it's all similar to what I'm doing! One thing though - the BAR ban in 2005 - I took the EXs off before because it was the team that was banned, not the drivers - plus a ban meant that they were removed from the entry list, so they didn't figure in the results at all. That's why I thought a blank box was better. We were discussing it at Talk:Michael Schumacher and on the project page - maybe we need a special "Banned" code or something, because an exclusion also refers to drivers disqualified during qualifying or practice. Anyway, we could do with your input there, cheers! Bretonbanquet 18:41, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Edit summaries

This is going to sound overly defensive, sorry. I just have a problem with this edit summary. [1]. All you did was add a comma and change Williams to Williams F1. While I will admit the comma was a necessary addition, there were no spelling mistakes. Hence your "sp and grammar" edit summary was incorrect. I guess my point is just please be careful - while you weren't criticising my work directly, indirectly you were, wrongly. Mark83 22:48, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

edits by 222.225.117.108

Best of luck if you're going to start reverting changes by 222.225.117.108. I've been tracking them for a couple of weeks now, but as I'm concientious and check his changes against www.formula1.com, it takes a while to reverse them all!

The editor seems to have a strange aversion to the word 'collision'. I've reported it as suspected vandalism, but as most of the changes are fairly harmless I don't know that I have a strong case. user:4u1e

1999 San Marino Grand Prix - Lap chart

Hey Diniz, great work on the lap chart on 1999 San Marino Grand Prix. Maybe it would just be better to include a reference/source. For all I know you could be making it all up!!!!!! Kind Regards, Manipe 17:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:A1 GP Team Nationalities.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:A1 GP Team Nationalities.PNG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for picking that baton up and running with it, good work! My other half surprised me by reminding me that it wa my turn to cook Sunday lunch, so I had to cut and run. Feel free to remove the speedy deletion tags, I reckon you are entitled now. Thanks! Pyrope 19:29, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Template: F1 cars 2001

Hi, Diniz. I noticed from your user page that you have made most, perhaps all, of this type of template. I just thought you'd like to know that I have created a 2001 version. I have kept the style identical to your design. Adrian M. H. 22:23, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Zinovy Peshkov

Oups,
I'm really sorry, but I just wanted to write fr instead of en to announce the french translation of this article.82.233.137.133 19:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Taki Inoue

Spooky - we uploaded the same photo of Taki Inoue's car to Commons within four minutes of each other! Anyway, I've changed the version of the photo on the Taki Inoue article to mine, even though they're identical, because it's self-licensed which I think is preferable. If you haven't got any objections I'll mark the one you uploaded for deletion because there's no point in having the same picture twice. Keep up the good work. Gasheadsteve 20:30, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about the other picture. I'm starting to try and keep track of my photos that are being used on Wikipedia, so if you use any more of them, could you add them to the gallery on my user page. Thanks very much. Gasheadsteve 10:09, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

MS and Bernie photo

I'm afraid we can't use Image:Michael Schumacher and Bernie Ecclestone.jpg on Wikipedia or the Commons as it is licenced under a CC-BY-ND-2.0 licence. Any Creative Commons licence with No Derivitives (ND) or Non-Commercial (NC) terms is not permitted on Wikipedia. It may only contain BY (Attribution) or SA (Share-Alike). I've tagged the image for deletion although you could try asking the author whether they'd be willing to relicence the image under CC-BY-2.0 instead. Cheers, Alexj2002 09:08, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

One more point about flickr photos uploaded to Commons, if you could put {{flickrreview}} under Permissions that'd be great. This allows the image to be checked in case the author changes the licence at a later date. I've added to Image:Mansell jordan 2004.jpg for you. Thanks! Alexj2002 16:43, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for marking them for deletion, and correcting the other images. Also just wanted to say you've made some great finds with some of those photos. Cheers, Alexj2002 20:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

RE: F1 Fatal Accidents,

Hey Diniz - Thanks for the messege. Sorry if this reply has come a little too late, that's mainly because of my idea to take a sabbatical forenight off. BTW, I should thank you for the contributions on that list, because it was you who did all the small things I either was too busy to do or just couldn't be arsed, so I thank you for that. Once again, thanks for the help and the messege Diniz ;-). --Skully Collins Edits 07:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

1985 Formula 3000 season

Hi, I have started 1985 Formula 3000 season with same stats. It would be very nice, if you can help me. So we can improve these articles together? Thanks Doma-w 13:49, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, I am very glad, that you like my article. I was also thinking about the different in our tables. Up to now my idea was, that you can add your table to mine. Then we have complete stats! And every user can choose, which information he needs.
Many thanks for all your corrections! I was not sure how to write the times and numbers, many thanks also for the correction in spelling and grammar! Here I will need your help from time to time again, English is not my mother tongue...
Well, my sources! Hard to say, because I do not remember clearly. I have been collecting stats since I was a boy. And these are now more than 25 years... I started with Formula 1 and enlarged my arcive with European and Northern American open wheel.Doma-w 18:59, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your help again! Doma-w 18:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Diniz. I noticed that you added the infobox to Formula 3000. This infobox is not designed for use on articles that describe a formula that has spawned various championships (something like 7 or 8 in this case, I think?) because you cannot complete any of the driver and team fields. It is intended for specific championships, ie GP2, WTCC, etc. In due course, I may create an infobox for this particular use, however, as other pages, such as Formula Three, might benefit from it.
In case you want to add Template:Infobox motorsport championship to any more articles, we provisionally decided that it is best to list all drivers who entered and attempted to qualify (not necessarily started) a round of the championship in its most recent season. Same for the teams. Include the year to avoid ambiguity. See GP2 series for an example. Any questions, feel free to let me know. Regards, Adrian M. H. 23:58, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi again. I'm now working on Template:Motorsport formula, but it needs more fields before it's worth using. Something along the lines of the number of constructors that were involved at one time or another, that sort of thing. I'd welcome suggestions of what you'd like to include in it. I've added to the discussion at WP:MOTOR. Regards, Adrian M. H. 14:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Template editing

There appears to be some issues with the racing driver infobox. You've added a "last season" field to the copy/paste section, but not to the code. Anyway, it shouldn't have one at all, as this is solely for current drivers (hence the "2007 {series} driver" caption). I'll revert it back to how it was, unless you have already done so. Regards, Adrian M. H. 22:15, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

It's simply because it's not transcluding properly, which I am trying to fix. If you can hold off editing it for a while, I will sort it. It is designed to produce the previous year, ie 2006. Adrian M. H. 22:23, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, it's transcluding properly now. Adrian M. H. 22:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
No apology needed, Diniz. You highlighted the glitch, so it was useful. Adrian M. H. 22:29, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I forgot to mention that I managed to change the "logo" field to "image", and it works okay now. It was a hangover from copying another template. Adrian M. H. 22:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
