Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. August 2014[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Please also note that #REDIRECT [[]] does not work on categories; and that all renames of categories and stub templates must be proposed at WP:CFD. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:01, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm TheQ Editor. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Seyid Riza, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. TheQ Editor (Talk) 15:26, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Redrose64,

I'm so sorry for my actions. I didn't know hot to move a category properly, I was just trying to replace "Dersim Providence" with "Tunceli Providence" (actual name). Dersim was its ancient and Kurdish name. Since 1920s it is officially Tunceli but the user Ahmetyal was transforming "Tunceli" into "Dersim" in all articles, because he is a Kurd. There's was several discussions in parlament of Turkey about a law to change its name to Dersim again but iw was never fully approved and the Ministry of the interior of Turkey never made a offical change. The user Ahmetyal shows an unreliable Kurd news site as a source and makes incorrect edits. Here is the official link of Municipality (belediye in Turkish) of Tunceli, you can see that it is still Tunceli: http://www.tunceli.bel.tr — Preceding unsigned comment added by Master Tyranus (talkcontribs) 16:15, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe that the name of this province is incorrect, bear in mind that changes like these are controversial, and pages should not be altered without discussion. To begin with, you should enquire at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey what the Wikipedia-accepted name for the province is; if there is general agreement that it should be Tunceli and not Dersim, only then may mass changes be carried out. Renaming of articles is proposed through the WP:RM process; renaming of templates (except stub templates) is proposed through WP:TFD; renaming categories (and stub templates) at WP:CFD. These are the main ones: other venues exist for other kinds of page. But in all cases there should be discussion: a unilateral change which affects many articles, particularly from somebody who made their first edit less than 24 hours ago, is often considered disruptive. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:00, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
