Question from Sidney Duane Orr (23:26, 26 February 2023)
Some recent changes, especially this mentor-arrangement, are a huge improvement! I predict that I will have some questions in future. For the record though, I was very disappointed that I wasn't allowed to vote there. Especially as a long-term user, and financial contributor - albeit in a small way. ttfn Sidney --Sidney Orr (talk) 23:26, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Sidney Duane Orr - nice to hear from you. Good to meet a fellow Bruin, although I am of somewhat younger (relatively) vintage. I spent a part of my life in the Southland, a place I enjoyed a great deal. I suspect the reason you could not vote was your edit count being too low. Feel free to ask any questions, happy to help any way I can. Kind regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:28, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your replay, Landsman. For many years I ignored the opinions of subject-matter-experts (SME) on the Wiki's contents, and, also, somewhat lazily, the topics on which I was a SME, and, also politics. However, I just saw the "Israel" page, and was appalled at its bias and spin. This is poison to the intellect. There is little else I want to say or do here, and especially so, after contributing editorially and financially for many years, and being somewhat chastised for that. Moreover, I can now say that my vague perceptions of the wiki have crystallized: the pages are a prime example of mere fervor, naivete, and inexperience triumphing over knowledge, experience, and skill, etc..... However, I wish you well in your involvement hereabouts, and, that you contribute to truth-telling, in the best traditions of scholarship. Sidney Orr (talk) 17:38, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Question from Basil Kondwani Ngambi (16:12, 26 March 2023)
what do i gain after i get to edit a task? --Basil Kondwani Ngambi (talk) 16:12, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Basil Kondwani Ngambi. I'm not sure I understand your question properly, but we do not gain things, we are all volunteers. Or are you asking about something else? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 18:11, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- yes i did not mean things like material things ni, i mean do i get to be rated for my editing or maybe recognised in some way has an editor? Basil Kondwani Ngambi (talk) 19:38, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Basil Kondwani Ngambi. In general, there is no rating for editors themselves, whereas articles are rated, with many editors finding satisfaction from working on articles to achieve good or featured status. Nevertheless, there is a wide variety of barnstars which are lsimilar to awards that editors give to each other in recognition of work, good deeds or for any reason one thinks. I hope this helps, and happy to answer any questions you may have. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 19:46, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- alright sure so whats my first article Basil Kondwani Ngambi (talk) 07:56, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Basil Kondwani Ngambi Probably the best way to start is to get yourself familiar with editing. Have a read of: H:EDIT, find an article of a subject that interests you and try to improve it (eg add some reliable sources or copy-edit). For information on starting an article have a read of Help:Your first article. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 12:20, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
