February 2023[edit]

Hello, I'm Ppt91. I noticed that in this edit to No-kill shelter, you removed all the content from the page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Correction: section blanking, please ensure you do not delete without reason per WP:REMOVAL as editor's own views are not sufficient to justify removal of properly sourced content. Ppt91 (talk) 02:19, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did not delete the page nor even large parts of it. I modified sections that were clearly abuse of Wikipedia in advocating/advertising for a specific individual and/or promotion of individual opinions. I edited or removed a few line items that were clearly opinion based and without citation/data/supporting facts. The one paragraph I deleted was clearly posted by an individual with some kind of grudge on one particular shelter in North Carolina and not only nonessential to the page, but deleterious to the Wikipedia page as being impartial. I have worked in No-Kill Shelters for over a decade and animal medicine as a whole for over 30. I came across this page as a link within a shelter site that was trying to explain to the public what no-kill meant. No Kill is an emotionally charged subject and prejudicial/biased content should be carefully avoided. 136.175.164.197 (talk) 02:54, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@136.175.164.197 You're correct. I acted too fast having noticed large-sized edits that appeared controversial. My apologies. Ppt91 (talk) 03:19, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please restore my edits? I noticed another editor came in right behind your rollback and deleted some of the same exact items I had but I would like my other edits restored as well. Thank you. 136.175.164.197 (talk) 03:35, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
136.175.164.197 The editor is an administrator who has assessed the situation based on your edits and my erroneous rollback to remove any content that did not conform to WP:NPOV and WP:RELY. If you would like to make any more appropriate edits with relevant edit summaries, please feel free to do so, but I cannot go against the consensus here and revert an administrator's actions which were based on policy. I hope this explains things. Ppt91 (talk) 03:51, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply. I will see if I can attempt to redo some of my edits without angering the Wikipedia Gods  :) I hope that you can see that Nathan Winograd, or some acolyte of his, is using the page as promotional material as well as some other biased/non-factual opinions and tones and are posted. I would simply like to render the page factually neutral with some minor tweaks. 136.175.164.197 (talk) 04:10, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@136.175.164.197 I completely understand and, as I said in my reply on my talk page, I should have been more diligent, rather than rushing to what I had assumed was a disruptive edit on a controversial subject. I'll certainly keep this in mind moving forward. Given your professional experience, I realize how important it is for you to see high-quality content on non-kill shelters that remains objective and fair. I hope you will consider becoming a registered user WP:REGISTER on here and contribute more to Wikipedia. I'll archive our exchange from my page, but please always feel free to reach out in the future. :) Ppt91 (talk) 04:33, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Ppt91, I should really warn you for unexplained reverting and reinstating unverified, improperly verified, and non-neutral content. Please do better next time. Drmies (talk) 03:01, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
