The Herd House is a non-profit domestic animal sanctuary located in Pocatello, Idaho. It was founded by Christine Welch. The Herd House provides for the medical care, fostering, hospice, or permenant home for animals in need. The Herd House was granted 501c3 non-profit status and is GuideStar Certified in 2022.

History[edit]

Christine Welch has been rescuuing animals since 2002. The Herd House has been active in Pocatello, Idaho since 2012. The Herd House works with a variety of rescue groups, veteranarians, non-profits, and volunteers across the United States.

Impact[edit]

In 2022 alone the Herd House has helped 7 special-needs dogs get adopted into loving homes. Christine takes these dogs in order to prevent unnecessary euthanaisa. A partially paralyzed dog named Phoenix came to the Herd House from Los Angeles to Idaho and was adopted by Christine. One case was a special-needs dog named Nacho. He traveled from the Herd House [1] [2], to the Golden Retriever Rescue in Key West[3], with the help of volunteer drivers across the United States.

A deaf pup named Anderson is currently living in the Herd House and learning how to dog. Liza and Kevin Bacon have also recently moved into the Herd House. Two dogs were brought in from Los Angeles in need of hospice. Posie and Ted got to live out their remaining days at the Herd House, in the company of a loving pack of canines, cats, reptiles, and fish.
