Essay ideas[edit]
- "Articles for Deletion as cleanup". Potentially summary:
Although AFD is not intended to be used for cleanup (WP:AFDISNOTCLEANUP), it de facto is often used as cleanup. Why? Well, it sits at a place where the guidelines and general culture discourage excessive AFDs so it gives more weight and less noise than tagging an article with Template:Notability. But since there are consequences if an article is not cleaned up, it encourages/forces other editors to do so with a 7-day deadline (contra WP:NODEADLINE?). Improvements may be to have some set of changes that is like Articles for Cleanup that would have nearly the same WP:BEFORE and other requirements as AFD but whose intended goal is improvement of articles and not deletion.
