Probuddho, a General Introduction[edit]

Me and the bois deciding what to revise and edit next

As-salamualaikum Wa-rahmatullahi Wa-barakatuh, (Peace be upon you, and God's mercy and blessings), I am Probuddho, a Bengali-American Muslim who loves history, philosophy, theology and comparative religion, as well as writing! My name, Probuddho is a transliteration of the Bengali word "প্রবুদ্ধ" (Probuddho), which literally means something akin to the English words Enlightenment, Wisdom, or Awakening. This is because I value both my origins and knowledge. Knowledge I believe is something we should all be striving to seek and protect. It reminds me of a beautiful hadith of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) wherein he said the following:

“The word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer. Wherever he finds it, he is most deserving of it.”[1]

As such, I strive to apply this beautiful understanding where I can. I hope to contribute generously to Wikipedia in terms of knowledge and wisdom (to the best of my limited ability), as well as being overall serviceable to upholding quality standards in English grammar and writing, Insha'Allah (if God wills).

My skills and what I services can provide to Wikipedia[edit]

Languages and Writing[edit]

I am able to speak 3 languages and write in two. I speak English, Bengali, and Japanese. I am able to write most fluently in English, and passably in Japanese, though I will be focusing on English Wikipedia. I may be able to contribute some knowledge regarding some Japanese terminology and point out some mistakes in English Wikipedia articles, however I am not skilled in the language, though I love it. I hope to provide better quality in English writing and fix and correct grammar mistakes where I find them, overall making English Wikipedia both more readable, and enjoyable.

Religion[edit]

I am knowledgeable to some degree on Islam especially being a Muslim myself. Regarding comparative religion I am also read on Christianity specifically, as well as some basic knowledge of other world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, etc. As I grow in knowledge, I hope to provide sources and update articles where they have fallen behind. I will try to remain neutral to the best of my ability and only source from academic/traditional sources respective of the context. Of course, I am human being, and am susceptible to bias, but I will do my best to abide by Wikipedia's standards out of love for truth.
