Special Reserve Infantry[edit]

  • Recruiting for militia ceased 15 January 1908
  • Of 124 infantry battalions:
    • 74 became reserve bns of line regts
    • 23 disbanded
    • 27 became Extra Reserve

Establishment

  • SR: regular cadre: 8 officers, 40 NCOs, 50 ORs. SR: 25/41/539. On mobilization receive unfit and immature members from line bns. main duty to make up losses in line bns.
  • ER: 644 all ranks, cannot be expanded.
