Not enough people know the difference between loose and lose. Do you?

  • Logically, wikipedia should not work. This surprises me every day.
  • I live in the best place in the world. But I can't tell you where - because if lots of people find out they'll come here and ruin it. It's a long way from most places though. (Update: it's been found.)
  • I'm an accredited Rules of Golf official.
  • I play chess and enjoy chess problems. Is the one I invented below in 1981 the simplest one possible?
  • I'm an experienced amateur photographer. Check out http:///jimpalfreyman.com for some of my successful shots. If you think a Wikipedia article needs a good photo donated and I am in a position to take it - send me a note.
  • Things in wikipedia that annoy me:
  • Poor readability. Especially conversion of units. SI is used across the world and putting little known units in all articles to cater for three countries and 4% of the population (and under 16% of the English speaking population) is just bizarre.
  • Non neutral point of view. But I admit it's harder to write than it looks.
  • Incorrect use of the apostrophe on words ending in "s":
Jim's house - the house belongs to Jim.
James's house - the house belongs to James.
The student's house - the house belongs to a student.
The students' house - the house belongs to not one student but a group of students.
Edwards's house - the house belongs to a person with the surname Edwards.
Edwards' house - the house belongs to not a person with surname Edwards but a family with a surname Edwards.
