Severe Tropical Storm Malakas was a deadly system that caused severe impacts on Philippines. The second tropical depression and first named storm of the 2022 Pacific typhoon season, the storm was first noted on Februrary and quickly intensified into a tropical storm and given the name Malakas by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). After a few hours, PAGASA followed the suit, and named it Agaton.
