Neil MacDonald (born 8 January 1983) is a Scottish former footballer who played for Fort William, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Clachnacuddin and Ross County.[1]

Career[edit]

Fort William[edit]

MacDonald started his career with Highland League side, Fort William, where he played for a one season with the club finishing the season with a singular win to their name.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle[edit]

On 3 February 2000, MacDonald moved to First Division side, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, however he didn't make his full debut until a year later, on 7 April 2001, when he scored on his debut in a 3–0 win over Greenock Morton[2]. In the same season he won the Inverness Cup while fighting to secure a permanent spot in the First Team. He left the club at the end of the season.

Clachnacuddin[edit]

After his departure he was immediately signed by fellow Invernessians, Clachnacuddin, who played in the Highland League. In his first season at Clachnacuddin, he completed the double, lifting both the League and League Cup trophies in the same season[3], however the following season in 2004–05, the success could not be replicated as Clach finished 7th in the league, and Neil left the club in the January Transfer Window.

Ross County[edit]

On 3 January 2005, Neil joined former rivals, Ross County, in the First Division. After not playing through the remainder of the 2004–05 season, in which the club finished 7th in the league, MacDonald made his debut for the club in a 2–1 League Cup win over Montrose at the end of July 2005, before making his League debut the following weekend in a 3–1 win against Clyde. Neil didn't score any goals in his 17 games for County, as the club finished 4th in the league. Following the 2005–06 season, MacDonald left the club.
