Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO): With the growing emergence of technology in health care, a new role has also been defined, the role of the Chief Medical Information Officer. The importance of this role is equal to its c-level distinction. Adhering to the Hippocratic Oath for the practice of medicine with the enabling and supporting technologies of clinical systems represents a significant responsibility. This responsibility, when incorporating the performance measures and goals within a health care delivery system, adds an additional layer of both complexity and responsibility.
