Carnildo: If it qualifies for fair use as a promotional image elsewhere, why not in a stub tag? --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 07:55, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Because fair use is determined on an article-by-article basis. Please read Wikipedia:Fair use. The only difference between promotional images and other non-free images is that we're less likely to be at the wrong end of a copyright infringement lawsuit over them. --Carnildo 08:08, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Would the programme logo (or a free or by permission picture of a police box) be permissible, then? --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 08:10, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
A free photo of a police box, sure. --Carnildo 08:30, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the conversation above and the related talk on the project page, I have created some stub template tests with free images I created myself. They're not great, but they're a start, perhaps. User:Angmering/Stubtests. Angmering 19:02, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
