Two articles?[edit]

From 1967-1999 this riding covered an area that included the towns of Markham and Richmond Hill. Due to a reorganization in 1999, the riding is now in Toronto covering part of the former borough/city of North York. These two areas have nothing in common but the name. Should this be one or two articles? I would like to create two articles tentatively called York Centre (York County electoral district) and York Centre (Toronto electoral district). For what it's worth, there is a precedent in the Quebec provincial ridings of Bertrand (electoral district) and Bertrand (1981–1994 electoral district). The old Bertrand disappeared in an electoral map revision, and a brand-new Bertrand was created in a completely different part of Quebec, with no territorial overlap and actually a fair amount of geographic distance between them. There is nothing in common, other than the name itself being recycled. — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 16:29, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have no objection, but the proposed disambiguation terms are not great, as they suggest that they are/were electoral districts of (as opposed to in) York County and Toronto (not to mention the fact that the former riding spent most of its existence in York Region rather than York County). I would follow the Bertrand precedent and stick to York Centre (provincial electoral district) for the current riding, and York Centre (1967-1999 provincial electoral district) for the former riding. Many months later, but this suggestion to separate into two articles, and disambiguate them per Bertrand makes sense. DigitalC (talk) 15:18, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Subsequent to my initial look at this issue, I found that the name York Centre applies to three time periods not two, ie. 1955-1963, 1967-1999, and 1999-present. So I decided to hold off on any changes while I looked at alternatives. EncyclopediaUpdaticus (talk) 15:24, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong photo[edit]

The first photo showing the boundaries is wrong. It shoes the boundaries of the federal York Centre riding, not the provincial. 2605:B100:139:8874:0:1F:6AC0:A001 (talk) 14:59, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
