Why "von"?[edit]

GM Wilhelm Friedrich Roettig, born 25.7.1888 in Mühlhausen/ Thüringen was not noble, so not a "von". Just like his elder brother General der Infanterie Otto Roettig. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.107.68.248 (talk) 15:54, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

German Wikipedia has an article on de:Otto Roettig but not on Wilhelm. Do you have any source on their relationship, for starters? _{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 14:55, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
