Brackley[edit]

The list gives the Borough of Brackley being abolished in 1886. There is no citation given for this. However, A Vision of Britain Through Time shows that a Municipal Borough of Brackley was established the same year. Does this not indicate that the ancient borough was reformed, rather than being abolished? Can anyone shed any further light on this? Skinsmoke (talk) 01:26, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citation now located. Brackley was reformed, not abolished. Skinsmoke (talk) 10:36, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alresford[edit]

The list gives Alresford, Essex as having been abolished by the changes. Empirically, this seems unlikely, since it was a small village at the time and has never really been any sort of urban centre. I suspected that it had been confused with Alresford, Hampshire and found this page on the village's history which appears to support this. Checking the Municipal Corporations Act, Part I, Schedule 2 confirms this, since it refers to New Alresford, which is the Hampshire village, not the Essex one.

I'm not very good at editing Wikipedia so I've left it be for now to avoid breaking any links, and because I'm not sure what administrative entity Alresford, Hampshire would have been absorbed into. But if anybody with more knowledge of Wikipedia would like to fix this, it wouldn't be a bad idea. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.145.164.65 (talk) 09:22, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
