Influence[edit]

I have read (before Wikipedia was started) that Taverner's translation introduced the words "parable" and "passover." If that is so, I don't think we should say that it had no influence. J S Ayer (talk) 02:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is out-of-date in relation to modern appraisals of the Taverner Bible. Interested editors may find Vivienne Westbrook's article, 'Richard Taverner Revising Tyndale', Reformation, 2 (1997), helpful. David Daniell is completely misquoted in the existing Wikipedia article - the quote refers to John Cheke's Gospel of Matthew (1550) and refers to Bishop Westcott's dismissal of Taverner, which Daniell directly challenges. I will edit this article fully when I can find time, unless someone else wants to do the honours! Steviebates (talk) 15:52, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
