Hello all, I originally made edits to the SETF wikipedia page because there were a few factual errors that I wanted to clear up. Full disclosure, I work for SETF and so although I am certainly biased, I can substantiate that certain facts in our page are either entirely false or outdated. They are as follows: One: The stated goal of SETF is to bring about the peaceful resolution to hostilities in Syria. Though it is true that we do not see a peaceful future as long as the Assad regime remains in power, we are not opposed to political solutions or the Geneva II process, and would prefer a peaceful negotiated settlement that brought about a transitional government. Two: SETF has formed valuable partnerships with the Cuban-American community, who have been extremely generous in their rhetorical and material support for the Syrian people. However, SETF has no formal position on the Castro government, and engages in no activities related to working against said regime. Three: Lobbying congress is not our main activity. As a pending 501 3(C) we are legally obligated to spend no more than 10% of our time or budget on lobbying activities, and we are in strict compliance with this law. We do actively engage in advocacy campaigns to educate the public about civil society development in Syria, as well as direct humanitarian work. Four: SETF does not have active projects funded by Chemonics. Five: Toby Cadman is not and has never been a staff member of SETF, though he has collaborated with us on transitional justice programs as a partner. Six: Cassie Chesley no longer works for SETF, as she has moved on to pursue a career elsewhere. Though it is true that before rising from Policy Fellow to Communications Director with SETF, based on her sterling record, she did work as a server in a restaurant (as many young people do) this hardly seems relevant for the SETF page, and is simply meant to insult or demean her qualifications, which are extensive and include Arabic language skills, significant time spent in the Middle East, and an academic background in development and conflict resolution. Final Note: As the page currently stands it is rife with the errors listed above. Unless these issues are addressed, and the actual work and current staff of SETF are discussed, it hardly seems like a page that enhances public knowledge or understanding of the Syrian crisis. I encourage you to provide references that can be used to improve the entry. Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to WP entries without sourced information. I will happily look for sources that can be used to support the corrections you outlined in your above comment. If you have some, you should feel free to post them as well.
