I found several mentions of the story of Sally St. Clair in books and magazines from the 1840s-1870s. Here's one And here's another. And here's yet another. Wikipedia usually prefers secondary to primary sources. Although it would be great to dig up the original newspaper article or statements from the Revolutionary or post-revolutionary era, that's not really our job as Wikipedians.
