I'll have this to you within a day JAGUAR 14:44, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
Initial comments[edit]
Lead[edit]
- "he began acting in television in 1947, and played the main character in the teleplay "Marty"" - Marty was in 1953, six years after he began his career in television? I was expecting this to be his first ever performance on television - are they both relevant here?
- added "later"
- "his portrayal of Al Capone is considered to have been one of the finest to date, and an influence on Robert De Niro" - might be worth rewording this to for Robert De Niro?
- on is OK I think.
- "One of his final roles was as a judge in the prison drama, The Hurricane (1999)," - no need for comma before the film title
- Done.
- The lead summarises the article well, so this meets the GA criteria
Body[edit]
- "moved away from Westhampton to bring up the young Steiger in Newark, New Jersey" - "the young" sounds a little informal, it should be OK to remove it
- changed to "her son"
- "which created winds reaching one hundred knots" - might be worth converting this to mph, which would be one hundred knots (115 mph) (this is optional)!
- quite necessary, agreed.
- "During an audition he uttered barely a few words before the caster exclaimed "Fresh, wonderful quality", and he got the part" - should 'Fresh' be capitalised? Also, is the caster praising his performance despite him only uttering a few words?
- Yes, it's the start of a exclamation, and yes, in the interview Steiger even says he was amazed as he only spoke a word or two!
- "It was here that like Marlon Brando, Karl Malden and Eli Wallach, he learned Method acting, " - this makes no sense!
- Reworded.
- " Steiger also responded unfavorably when he learned that director Kazan" - who is Kazan? Is he the director of On the Waterfont? Unclear
- I say his name Elia Kazan further up in Actors Studio part. I'll add Kazna's On the Waterfront to make it clearer
- "who masterminds a caper to steal $4,000,000 in French francs" - can a French francs symbol be used in place of the dollars (if possible)?
- not sure how to do that!
- "look like "one half of a naked ass-hole".[47]The following year" - space after citation
- Done.
- "The following year, Steiger portrayed legendary comic actor W. C. Fields" - not too keen on this choice of word unless it's directly from a source?
- I think it is needed in this context though, he wasn't just any old comic actor, it was W.C. Fields, one of the legends of old Hollywood comedy.
- "and he often turned to B films" - I'd link B-movie for more accessibility for the reader
- Done.
- " According to Fred Olsen Ray, it was pulled from distribution within a week of release" - who is Fred Olsen Ray? Is he notable enough for a red link?
- He's a director and producer of low budget horror films and soft core pornos. Yes, he would meet GNG, I'll add director.

On hold[edit]
This is a very well written article, overall it's comprehensive and well researched. Most of the points I found were minor prose issues, and I think some are trivial, so please feel free to use your better judgement! This is very well deserving of becoming a Good Article.
