Rīpapa Island should be spelt with a Macron, or The article should refer to the Māori spelling of Rīpapa:
Although it is not an official name as per the New Zealand Gazetteer, it is the Māori name.:

Not done per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (New Zealand). However, I did add in the Maori name in the lead. I know this is probably not a satisfying answer, but the best next place if you have additional questions or concerns would be at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (New Zealand).
