I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Results of the Iranian presidential election, 2009's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:48, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Walter Mebane analysis[edit]

One of the references. At http://www-personal.umich.edu/~wmebane/note24jun2009.pdf

This caught my eye. "Some evidence bearing on this point appears in Figure 1. Allegations regarding the election include assertions that many ballot boxes were sealed before they could be inspected by opposition candidates’ representatives (Erdbrink and Branigin 2009). This opens the possibility of ballot box stuffing or other vote tampering."

In the statement the Guardian Council released in response to all of Musavi's official complaints, they noted that ALL ballot boxes are sealed before voting begins, in the presence of 15 officials including one representing each candidate, to ensure they are empty prior to any votes being put in them. 208.79.15.102 (talk) 23:46, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly Mebane thinks of tampering AFTER the voting (which can be done in many ways). Sealing before the voting doesn't affect his statistical analysis nor his "simplest explanation". And it does not provide a "benign interpretation" for the anomalities. Harald88 (talk) 08:30, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The section: Attempts by Iranian government to restore confidence[edit]

seems one way, we in Iran felt that the government was postponing the declaration of the final results so that they could crack down on the protesters since some people were still hopeful that the results may change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.193.228.76 (talk) 11:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
