The article relies too heavily on limited sources, so makes the mistake of claiming "the complete elimination of Ngāti Kahu-pungapunga". I would recommend editors consider reviewing other sources (e.g. Waitangi Tribunal reports). At a minimum, the Maniapoto Deed of Settlement refers to the settlement of Kahu-pungapunga at Kakepuke (2021, p. 29). Ngāti Kahu are most certainly still alive and live as part of Tainui.
