Icefield Névés[edit]

I see there's a rather brief mention of Névé here in the context of an icefield; see the British Columbia section on List of glaciers for a listing of named Névés - Compton Névé, Illecillewaet Névé, Garibaldi Névé and many others. Don't have time to add it here but the mention here needs to be more of a section than just a blip.Skookum1 (talk) 15:25, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot find any credible sources discussing névé[edit]

While there are many, many scholarly articles that reference and discuss firn, I can't find a single peer reviewed article that even mentions névé. There seem to be only two sources wikipedia ever uses to back up the existence of névé (as being a distinct substance to firn): a reference to "Geol 33 Environmental Geomorphology," the link to which doesn't work and searching an article database brings up no results, and a reference to a "physical geography glossary of terms" site that is from 2009 and cites no sources (and seems to be run by one man). I'm not saying that névé and firn are not two different things, but the only modern source this article cites simply states névé is another word for firn. As far as I can tell, it seems névé is just an older word for firn, and there definitely isn't enough evidence enough suggesting otherwise to warrant an entire article about névé. (I've never used the talk thing on wikipedia before, sorry if I'm misusing it) W014prc (talk) 01:02, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
