Notability -Speedy deletion[edit]

Why do you believe it is non-notable? Granted, it is a minor party, but it is also part of the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA), one of the coalitions expected to win parliamentary seats at the forthcoming Greek elections. The article doesn't assert any notability. It just says who they are, not what they are or how notable they are. The CSD is based on the contents of the article. At the moment the article just says that they are a political party. Nothing about how important they are, there are no 3rd party citations or references. speedy declined--it does not in general apply to political parties--such deletions are always contested. Take it to afd if you think them unimportant. As for importance, if there should be any sources to show notability, then the article willl probably stand-- Michalis, see if you can find any--the article may not pass afd without them. Then, I hope it is OK that I removed the deletion templates from the article. I have added some references. One is from the website of the Coalition. The other is an article from one of the major Greek daily newspapers, Eleftherotypia, that documents the departure of one of the most prominent figures of the party from it. Sadly they are both in Greek (but as I said, it is a minor party), but I believe that the fact that one of the most widely circulated Greek dailies devoted an article to this minor party's internal conflicts, attests its notability. --Michalis Famelis (talk) 18:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you pardon the old joke, it's all Greek to me I'm afraid so I have no idea. What you need is 3rd party sources commenting on how important they are or how essential they are to Greece etc etc. I'll have to bow out if all the sources are in Greek. I'm certainly not going to slap an AFD on something if I can't read what the sources say. Sadly, I have not managed this far to find anything in English apart from a reference I already added this morning that deals with the formation of SYRIZA. However, I have added the article to the list of articles of the Wikiproject Greece Politics task force.
