Song's genre and influences[edit]
Hi, everyone.
Sorry for being annoying to many here, but the thing is that I looked at this very strange review of the article that can be found in the history. This IP (who only used the Wiki for this) claims to be a Doctor of Musical Arts. Maybe I'm the only one here who has problems with this, but, from my perspective, it's suspicious. Can we agree on a genre/s?[edit]
Can we agree that the genre of this song is R&B, synth-funk (sources claim its funk but synth-funk is the specific subcategory), and hip-hop? I seriously dont want to see edit warring over one person not realizing and being stubborn. Sources claim its synth inspired while also being funk, think about it! - @Politicalwizard2000: So that there is no edition war, you are in the best place. We cannot affirm that it is synth-funk, no matter how many elements the song contains related to it, if NO reliable source affirms it. Also, the statement you make can be dangerous, because you can fuse synths with funk without having to be synth-funk.
- Same with hip hop. No matter how hip hop the song is, the fact that it is in the R&B/Hip Hop category in your Billboard article is no guarantee to put "hip hop" because it is not mentioned in any reference in the article (or do you if you see it?).
- Unfortunately, the same thing also happens with "alternative rock" (not mentioned, the same with hip-hop) and "synth-pop" (even though synthesizers have been mentioned, it was NEVER explicitly classified as such). The "psychedelia" part would have to be rewritten. I hope it is clear to you, and to all those who read this message and have a damn desire to put genres and influences according to personal bias, no matter how musical it may be.
