Adding new submissions for counties[edit]

Please, if possible, when adding new submissions for counties, also update their individual country lists (see links in the submissions navigation template at the bottom. If possible, any red-link films should be created as being submitted for an Oscar is grounds for an article. Jmj713 (talk) 20:07, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea when an article about submissions for the ghe 96th Academy awards will be published? Switzerland and Tajikistan already picked their films. 24.203.33.214 (talk) 15:25, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Uganda[edit]

Uganda --> Language --> English. This is impossible. --139.47.42.112 (talk) 21:19, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see the film was nominated for the AMAA 2022 Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in an African Language, but can't find in the various articles, which language it's in. Hopefully, we'll know more soon, and it's not disqualified Jmj713 (talk) 16:54, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's in Swahili, Nkore, and Luganda according to this video. Nardog (talk) 17:36, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Original Titles[edit]

Question...Why are we including other alphabets in the "Original Title" field? I understand for bilingual countries where the original title may be in multiple languages, i.e. India (Gujarati/English), Macedonia (Macedonian/Bosnian) or Tunisia (French/Arabic). But countries like Bulgaria don't use two alphabets; the original title is in the Cyrillic alphabet. Adding all these additional aphabets makes the table look very messy.

Also, the "original title" of Holy Spider is "Holy Spider". When the film played in Denmark, it wasn't advertised in Persian.

Happy to discuss. Should we include multiple alphabets? What do others think? Happy to go with the opinion of the majority. Adtran (talk) 14:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's simply so that original titles in non-Latin alphabets can be read by everyone. Jmj713 (talk) 22:58, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
