Chinese and English articles are conflicting. Chinese has extensive citations and states, that the tilt is the casued by the tower's foundation stones being looted (situation keenly preserved by the renovations of 1980ies）. English article is based on a superficial article published in Shanghai Daily, a newspaper that is famed as being an English language exercise for non-professional journalists.
