Disclosing COI[edit]

I, the author of the initial draft of this page, have a COI: I work for a communications agency for which ASU (Asner's employer) is a client. I'm happy to help with any feedback about how to ensure this article is neutral and has encyclopedic value. I want to ensure I am transparent throughout the process of getting this article reviewed for a move to mainspace. Thanks! Mary Gaulke (talk) 17:51, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

COI edit requests[edit]

Hi there! As mentioned above, I have a COI: ASU is a client of my employer, Porter Novelli. Requesting a few updates to this article.

Lead[edit]

  • In infobox, update "occupation" from
Director of Arizona State University's Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science[1]
to
Director of Arizona State University's Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science[1] and Managing Director, The Allen Coral Atlas[2]
  • Add to the end of the first paragraph:
He is also managing director of the Allen Coral Atlas, an online map of all the coral reefs in the world used as a reference for reef conservation.[2][3]

Work mapping forests and coral reefs[edit]

Add to end of section:

In September 2021, the Allen Coral Atlas, of which Asner is managing director, announced it had completed a comprehensive map of the world's coral reefs, compiled using more than 2 million satellite images.[2]

Selected publications[edit]

Replace

  • Asner, Gregory P.; Vaughn, Nicholas R.; Balzotti, Christopher; Brodrick, Philip G.; Heckler, Joseph (2020). "High-Resolution Reef Bathymetry and Coral Habitat Complexity from Airborne Imaging Spectroscopy". Remote Sensing. 12 (2): 310. Bibcode:2020RemS...12..310A. doi:10.3390/rs12020310.

Partially done. Not enough convinced why In September 2021, the Allen Coral Atlas, of which Asner is managing director, announced it had completed a comprehensive map of the world's coral reefs, compiled using more than 2 million satellite images - this would be relevant to this article. Regarding replacement of the publication no reason was provided, which appears odd. Prefer to leave these two edit requests to other reviewers. Chirota (talk) 06:09, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help! Regarding the Allen Coral Atlas, since Asner leads this project and developed much of the technology that enabled it, in my opinion it's germane to the article. Regarding the publications – my understanding is that the second publication has had a more significant impact, but I didn't want to make the list too long, which is why I suggested replacing another item. It may also make sense to simply add the additional publication. Thanks again. Mary Gaulke (talk) 16:13, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
