- The film is also known as "Ghani" (nevermind the subtitle) and half of the incoming links to this article are actually intended for that film. And I understand that surnames are partial title matches in a way, but a person with a given surname is often referred to using just the surname, so they do become relevant when deciding primary topic status. If anything, most unqualified uses of "Ghani" in sources are probably going to refer to Ashraf Ghani, Afghanistan's president. – Uanfala (talk) 15:56, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  - Eh, weak support then on account of the obscure Bangladeshi film now that it's been moved. I'm not buying your surname argument though, I'm not so sure about the Asian names but people aren't generally referred to by their surnames alone. PC78 (talk) 15:15, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    - They often are, at least in English. Of course, other dab entries usually carry more weight, but that's still relevant. For example, when Macron became president of France, the article about the diacritic got moved out of the primary title. – Uanfala (talk) 15:25, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The only other topic on the dab page called "Ghani" is the film Ghani: The Cycle. Editors should investigate whether this topic challenges the primacy Georgian letter and ignore most of the other partial title matches. — AjaxSmack 18:32, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Alright, we can ignore common use and pretend people with the surname are pure partial title matches. We will then only take into account the film and the letter, but imagine all the name holders from the dab page are split into Ghani (name) – then all of a sudden we have a new article that is not a partial title match. So we'll have the same fundamental topic structure but we'll arrive at different decisions based on how we choose to count. Also, there's another argument for absence of a primary topic (I didn't mention it because it was all pretty clear without it). The dab page receives one fifth as many views as the article – given that most pageviews normally come from internal links (my experience is that these are usually at least an order of magnitude more numerous than ones coming from readers who go to the article straight out of the search box), this strongly indicates that most readers searching for "Ghani" end up clicking through to the dab page. – Uanfala (talk) 18:56, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Support for Ghani (Georgian letter). I'm not sure that every letter in every alphabet deserves its own article on English Wikipedia. Maybe it would be better to merge the information into the Georgian alphabet article, or have a separate article for Georgian letters? Danielklein (talk) 12:42, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
