Criticisms

The Constitutional Council has been accused of "government by the judiciary", for increasing the force of texts in the constitutionality corpus that were deliberately ignored when the constitutions of the Fourth and Fifth Republics were developed. Criticism is based on explanations given in early 1959 by Justice Minister Michel Debré.

Constitutional block[edit]

One thing that's never been clear to me, and really needs to be cleared up both here, and in the other article, is the difference between this topic and the topic of the article Constitutional block (France). Add @Elinruby:. They don't appear to be identical (although clearly related), as the "block" includes the Charter for the Environment of 2004, whereas I don't think the "Fundamental principles" includes it (or at least, our article doesn't mention it). Why they have both concepts, is a mystery to me, but I think it needs to be clarified in the article(s). Mathglot (talk) 07:07, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

was just thinking I should get serious with some sources over here. It's stiff academic French to the nth degree for a start and there are too many decisions of the Constitutional Council, which would be primary sources, right? Not going to do it right now, as I am busily working off some frustrations in the copy edit queue. Maybe tomorrow. Needs to be done though, I agree. If you're talking about the templates, it's pretty well documented at {{sfn legifrance}}, {{cite legifrance}}, and {{legifrance}}. If there's anything in the doc pages there that isn't clear, please lmk. Mathglot (talk) 09:18, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Explanatory note 'a' (which I think I wrote) is mostly about translation, also says something about the connection between the two, but it is unsourced (and needs to be), and in any case, is incomplete.
