Real percentage of Swedes in Finland[edit]

In 1910 the Swedish Party received 14% of the votes in the parliamentary election. What happened to these Swedes? In 1994 the candidate of the Swedish Party received 22% in the first round and 46% in the second round. Not all Swedes are active users of Swedish language and have it as their primary language. And not all of them are voting for the Swedish Party. That figure is not the figure for all Swedes in Finland. --95.24.66.215 (talk) 10:08, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The voting figures can't be used to estimate the number of Finland-Swedes. In democratic countries the party someone votes for is not determined by language, clan or ethnicity. Sjö (talk) 10:51, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sjö: Voting for an ethnic party in the parliamentary election with a huge choice of different parties is a much better indication of ethnic identity than a language someone uses. In 1610 Swedish-speakers made up 18% of Finland. Can you explain to me what happened to them? --95.24.66.215 (talk) 10:33, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The number of Swedish-speakers is decreasing [1] and is currently at about 5 %. I don't know where you got the 1610 number, so I can't comment on that. But I would like to know where you are going with this? Do you propose a change in the article or is this a forum-like discussion where you just want to vent your views?
