Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because, as the article already says, this person was the first death on active duty of any New Zealand prison guard. It was widely covered, in New Zealand and the US, I have more sources that I'll be adding shortly. — Stuartyeates (talk) 06:22, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's pretty marginal, They guys life apart from the last couple of seconds is irrelevant to the article. Perhaps merge with a more general article on the NZ prison system or the prison or something. - SimonLyall (talk) 06:26, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
'First deaths' on duty appear to be notable in the first instance when they get extensive coverage as such in the media, as per Elizabeth Jacobson, Megan McClung, María Inés Ortiz and Tim Vakoc. Even the 2000th seems notable, as per George T. Alexander. Stuartyeates (talk) 07:11, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Editorializing[edit]

This article uses substantial subjective language. The segment about the inquiry into Palmer's death is clearly biased. 2600:1000:B14C:D002:54A:61E3:1728:7765 (talk) 18:49, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
