True or false??

True or false: this article belongs on Culture of Georgia (country). 66.245.99.122 23:01, 12 May 2004 (UTC)

false. As the country Georgia is already the higher administrative unit (it is a country rathern than a state) than the state of Georgia, this is the current page. (This has been the subject of various debates) Rhymeless 03:22, 13 May 2004 (UTC)

Untitled

Currently the article is just a long list of links. It would be nice if someone could write some descriptions of Georgian culture.

I have seen "Giya Kancheli" far more than "Gia Kancheli". I'm going to try and write an article sometime soon. Rhymeless 22:44, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Translations of Georgian literature

Does anyone know of translations of Georgian modern literature in English or other languages? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.70.219.123 (talk) 14:33, 16 December 2006 (UTC).

Danelia, Geogian or Russian?

Is Danelia a Georgian, or a Russian filmmaker? Obviously, a Georgian, it looks like he has not filmed anythting in Georgian or about Georgia.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.16.161.89 (talk) 01:34, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

He is Georgian, but lives and works in Russia. and He has made several films in Georgian and about Georgian. for example მიმინო(mimino)Dixtosa (talk) 18:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Shota.jpg

The image Image:Shota.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Georgian (country) cultureCulture of Georgia (country) — The current title is different from other "culture of..." articles (eg, Culture of France) and besides, it sounds horrible grammar-wise. Cod Lover Oil (talk) 20:34, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Clothing

Could someone include something about Papakhi, Chokha and other Georgian clothing missing from this article? - TheMightyQuill (talk) 20:32, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

That is a very good idea. We should develop a section about Georgian traditional Garment in this Article, and tie it to General article about Chokha.--69.121.14.144 (talk) 06:09, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Literature

I think the entire literature section should be branched out as a separate article. Unlike it's southern counterpart, the literature of the country doesn't only include liturgical writings of the middle ages and doesn't consist of mere bible translations. If Armenia has it's own separate article then Georgia should too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simboyd (talkcontribs) 22:06, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Greco-Roman culture

According to Euro-Atlantic Discourse in Georgia: The Making of Georgian Foreign and Domestic Policy After the Rose Revolution, Frederik Coene, page 64, "Historians Nodar Lomouri and Dzhuansher Vateishvili argue that the Hellenisation and Greco-Roman influences did not have a major impact on the wider Georgian population, and there are no indications as to the extent of how Georgians identified themselves with the Greco-Roman civilisation and culture." --Kansas Bear (talk) 02:46, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

This source;

  • W.E.D. Allen, A history of the Georgian people, 1932, pages=123.

Makes no mention of Greco-Roman culture. The page talks about Timur and 1386. --Kansas Bear (talk) 16:47, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
