Removal of Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Rana Bhagwandas from Chief Justice list[edit]

April 3, 2009

Removing the names of Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Rana Bhagwandas from Chief Justice list as they were only acting Chief Justices and actual justice remained Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. In absence of Chief Justice in the country, acting chief justice are always appointed.

See Observation of Justice Javed Iqbal on March 13, 2007 at http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=6495

"Acting Chief Justice Javed Iqbal on Tuesday said that Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is still the Chief Justice of Pakistan while he has a temporary charge.

He made the observation when Muhammad Ikram Chaudhry advocate informed the acting chief justice about the treatment being meted out to Justice Chaudhry following the filing of the presidential reference against him." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rizvisa1 (talkcontribs) 17:22, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Acting a bit mature?[edit]

The current Chief Justice was renamed to DOG-ar instead of Dogar. I mean, seriously, who are we? 10 year olds? Grow up for gods sake. What is 58-2b? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.181.102.46 (talk) 20:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Abdul Hameed Dogar[edit]

Why are you (to those) removing the current Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar? Why are you hiding the reality just because your personal view is different? Grow up and stop acting immature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fahadzkhan (talkcontribs) 05:00, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

De facto chief justice[edit]

Dogar is the de facto chief justice.

Real Chief Justice of Pakistan[edit]

Majority of the citizen of Pakistan are agreed that the real chief justice of Pakistan is Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary and Dogar has no constitutional right to declared him the chief justice of Pakistan because the on 3rd November 2007 evening all the judges are directed to not to take oath under PCO thats why all the judges who took oath after that have no constitutional, moral or legal autharity —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.59.66.147 (talk) 09:28, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia needs reference against your claim, and the best applicable reference in this case is the official site of Supreme Court of Pakistan, which states that Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar is the Chief Justice of Pakistan. --SMS Talk 16:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How come this article is showing future CJs?[edit]

List of Chief Justices is showing future CJs with precise dates. How is this possible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.81.12 (talk) 13:36, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How this article is showing future CJP? 115.186.189.172 (talk) 13:08, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From quick online search, it appears this is based on
1) Article 179 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which indicates that members of the Pakistan Supreme Court must retire when they reach the age of 65, and
2) that based on the 1996 Supreme Court judgement in the Al-Jihad Trust case the oldest member of the supreme court is appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The list of future Chief Justices is therefore borderline WP:OR, as the order could be disrupted by nomination of older justices than current members, or resignation / death of current members of the supreme court.
Hope this helps, Shazback (talk) 13:40, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
