Bird sanctuary stuff only[edit]

User:ferret Why is there an external link on here to marine heritage, which is totally to do with restoration of the light keepers dwelling?? This is to do with (as I understand the bird sancturary only) not the the lightstation tower  ??? Why is there anything over here about the lightstation tower, that should all stay on the other article if we get right down to the facts Imasku (talk) 21:54, 28 March 2017 (UTC) 21:53, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There are no external links to "marine heritage" though? Theroadislong (talk) 21:57, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The only external link on the page was there back when you edited the article in August, nothing has changed about that. The topic of this article is the island itself, which would include the mention of famous structures (without focusing heavily on them) that are on the island. -- ferret (talk) 21:58, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

user:theroadislong ferret:then what in blazes is this called: Chantry Island Restoration Project why am I the only one that sees this.Imasku (talk) 22:01, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No one at a quick glance would know that link as "Marine Heritage", unless they've already clicked it. It's not in the name or label. That said, I'm fine with removing it. Like I said, it's been in the article since 2007. It wasn't added recently. -- ferret (talk) 22:03, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to explain this but now I cannot leave a message I get conficts on this page everytime I tryImasku (talk) 22:05, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The island is a bird sanctuary and a tourist destination. Both aspects are discussed in the text. (Tourists can visit only the light station, not the area with the birds.) I did a bit of cleanup a few minutes ago. Peter K Burian (talk) 22:09, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Link is removed and I'm fine with that, as we really don't need to directly promote the tours as a link. -- ferret (talk) 22:11, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There were far too many citations, as there are in the Lighthouse article too. At my last edit, the citation for the tours was still there. Delete it if you wish. Peter K Burian (talk) 22:23, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine as is. -- ferret (talk) 22:30, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In all fact, really only links to do with the bird sanctuary should be over on this article, it really has nothing to do with the tours/ or restoration and should be removed. Imasku (talk) 06:48, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is absolutely no reason to limit the article to "Bird sanctuary stuff only" the article is about the island as a whole not just the bird sanctuary. Theroadislong (talk) 07:25, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This article has nothing to do with the tours/ restoration / or the marine heritage any links not related should be removed. Imasku (talk) 07:28, 29 March 2017 (UTC) Previously stated by user:ferret ...Link is removed and I'm fine with that, as we really don't need to directly promote the tours as a link.... I would assume this applies to all non related links, tours/ restoration/ marine heritage Imasku (talk) 07:42, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The external link section is already removed, and that was all I was referring to with that comment. The article should cover the basic facts that only one company is allowed to conduct restricted tours of the island. Sources are not considered "external links" in this sense either, if the source is needed to meet Wikipedia's policy of WP:Verification to support text in the article. The article's current content appears to be probably supported and relevant, and most of the unnecessary sources already removed. Imasku, do you have some sort of association with Marine Heritage? -- ferret (talk) 11:53, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
