Hi everyone, I don't know much about editing wikipedia but this sentence is factually incorrect: "Even the apparently definitive bench press may be done without a bench, by lying on the floor."

...in fact doing bench or chest presses lying on the floor will severely limit one's range of motion, you're only doing about half the exercise. a properly executed bench press ends with the bar about two inches from your chest, which means your elbows must be below the bench (ie: floor).

additionally performing bench presses without some kind of safety mechanism is a nice recipe for serious injury.

if you don't have a bench and can't to improvise with a Swiss (stability) Ball (which results in greater engagement of the core but presents other issues at very high weight) or even an upside-down milk crate, a much better replacement exercise would be one of the many variations of the venerable push-up.
