Telus?[edit]

Does anybody know the exact nature of the relationship between Amp'd and TELUS in Canada? I've seen it refered to as a "partnership" - does TELUS have an ownership position?

Telus' marketing issued an FAQ which tried to answer this question. In particular:

3. How is Amp’d Mobile’s U.S. presence different from their Canadian one?

  • In the U.S., Amp’d operates as a traditional MVNO.
  • In Canada, Amp’d will focus on brand and marketing operations, and providing premium data services and content.
  • TELUS will be responsible for most other aspects of the business including pricing, sales and distribution, billing, client care and network operations.

4. What is defined as a traditional MVNO?

  • A Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) is a company that does not own a licensed frequency spectrum, but resells wireless services under their own brand name, using the network of another mobile phone carrier. The MVNO assumes control over pricing and the relationship with clients.

5. Is this arrangement considered an MVNO?

  • No.
  • Customers will have a direct service relationship with TELUS, and will have access to premium Amp’d services and content via TELUS.
  • Amp’d Mobile will be responsible for bringing the freshest, hottest and most exclusive entertainment to Canadian subscribers as well as optimized handsets capable of fast download speeds.
  • TELUS will manage sales and distribution, billing, client care, network operations and pricing – ensuring that Canadians continue to receive the exceptional consumer experience they’ve come to expect from TELUS.

7. Where will Amp’d products be sold?

  • Within Wireless High Speed coverage areas, select TELUS dealers, retail outlets and corporate stores will carry Amp’d Mobile products.
  • Amp’d will also create a Canadian Web site to sell products on-line.

8. How will TELUS benefit from this arrangement?

  • By offering clients the choice of Amp’d Mobile service, TELUS will be able to capture new clients and additional revenue from tech-savvy, entertainment focused clients in the 18-35 demographic.

Doesnt it seem like advertising is aimed mainly at sparkling wiggles? Is it just me?

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Amp'd Content[edit]

I was suprised to see so little mention of Amp'd Mobile on the Lil Bush page, and vice versa. The busines model of Amp'd was to make a profit off of delivering mobile content, the article needs to highlight said content. Mathiastck 08:15, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ampd - over?[edit]

Various online forums are being flooded with reports of outages in various areas of the country. Unfortunately I haven't seen any official word on this, but it appears Amp'd may be dea'd.

Terrible Service[edit]

Maybe the reason none of their customer paid their bill is because they never send a bill to their customer’s homes. Their customer service is the worst because they refuse to give you any real help; they just want to charge you more money. When you finally get then to email a copy of you bill their will be phone call that you never even made on you account. Never mind the fact that their phones only work half of the time and the only way to pay the bill is on a site that is down 90% of the time. Their corporate office just like their customer server refuse to talk to you and don’t even think about asking for a review of your bill or a credit because they will just hang up on you. This is the worst cell phone company that I ever had in the past 14 years of having a cell phone. This is the reason why this company is bankrupt, because of terrible service.

It hasn't been made public yet, but it seems as if Telus is pulling the plug on Amp'd in Canada.
