Name[edit]

I noticed that the Arabic version of the article is simply titled "Ibn Aqil al-Zahiri," which is shorter. "Abu Abd al-Rahman" is Arabic for "the father of Abd al-Rahman." Such a thing is known as a kunya and is common among Arabic people. Some articles use the subject's kunya and some don't, but I think the important thing it length. The English language sources seem to differ; the English edition of the Arabic newspaper in the citations uses the full name like the title of this article, while the citation from Maribel Fierro's book simply says "Ibn Aqil al-Zahiri," which I can certainly understand from the standpoint of length. I'm not sure if the title of this article should be left as-is or shortened. MezzoMezzo (talk) 09:02, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
