Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	The song "La Complainte du partisan" was originally written and sung with French lyrics by Emmanuel d'Astier de la Vigerie. Hy Zaret wrote an English version of the lyrics, which Leonard Cohen used when he recorded "The Partisan". The article covers the history of the song from French resistance anthem to English folk and beyond, citing several authors' discussions on the differences between the original French and Zaret's English words, their meaning and context.
