Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf is an independent Pakistani politician and business personality. In 2023 he was appointed as federal minister for housing and is currently serving as a federal minister in the PM Anwar Ul Haq Kakar's interim caretaker cabinet of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Ahsan belongs to a prominent and influential family in Pakistan with a rich industrialist and political background.[1][2][3][4][5]
Early life and family background[edit]
Ahsan was born from his engineer father Sheikh Mohammed Ashraf, who had held the position of chief engineer of irrigation in the One Unit for East and West Pakistan. His grandfather Sir Abdul Qadir Sheikh was a Pakistani jurist, newspaper and magazine editor and a Muslim community leader in British India.[6]His late uncle Sheikh Manzoor Qadir was a Pakistani jurist and politician who served as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan in the military government of Ayub Khan from 1958 to 1962.[7][8]

Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf has a BSc in mining engineering from the Lahore University of Engineering and Technology. He also has diplomas in marketing and business strategy, and leadership and management.[9]
Career[edit]
In 2013, prior to his current ministerial job for the caretaker cabinet, he served Pakistan as a Federal Minister for Industries and Production in the Khoso's caretaker ministry for about two months.[1][10][11] In his very brief stay in power, he was able to lead the nation's largest public sector corporations, including PIA, Pakistan Steel Mills, Utility Stores and Heavy Mechanical Complex(HMC) Taxilla 1 and 2. Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf is interested in international affairs, and politics of Pakistan.[4]
Controversies[edit]
Back in 2013, Shahzada was accused of flouting rules and regulations to extend benefits to some companies and individuals while working as a caretaker minister for Industries and Production. However, he has strongly denied the charges.[5]
