From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard John Wolfenden (Born March 1992[1]) is a British radio broadcaster and football commentator. He is a presenter on the alternative music station Radio X.[2] He is also a football reporter and commentator working for BBC Sport's Final Score, Match Of The Day, the EFL Highlights show on ITV,[3] and talkSPORT.[4]

Career[edit]

In 2018, whilst a student at the University Of Chester, Wolfenden presented the Student Radio Chart Show on the universities' student radio station The Cat Radio, which won the award for Best Chart Show at the annual Student Radio Association awards.[5][6]

During his time at university, he started commentating on the Premier League for talkSPORT.[7] He then went on to work full time as a presenter at Radio X and has been presenting the Radio X Indie Night since May 2020.[2] In the same year he also started presenting at Everton FC, working on their pre-match show Everton Live.[8]

In 2022, he joined Final score as a reporter.[9] In March 2023 Wolfenden was one of the reporters who boycotted the BBC in solidarity with Gary Lineker, who had been told to step down from his duties by BBC bosses, after comparing the language used to launch a new government asylum policy with 1930s Germany on Twitter.[10]

Personal Life[edit]

In 2024, Wolfenden ran the London Marathon for Global's Make Some Noise.[11]
